Fisheries

FISH SEED PRODUCTION

In durg district 8 fish seed hatcheries and 12 fish seed farm are available which in classified as below:-

  1. One Hatchery and five fish seed farm available in fisheries Department
  2. Two Hatchery and 2 fish seed farm available in fisherman co-operative federation.
  3. Five Hatchery and five fish seed farm available in private sector.

Requirement of fish seed in durg district,on the basis of available water area is 828.54 lac. St.fry but all resources of the district, is produce 1400.00 lac. St .fry. As a requirement of the district, is fulfil,rest of the st.fry 571.46 lac.Exported to the state of M. P.,Maharashtra,Orisa as well as Nearing District ,of Durg.Durg district is self sufficient in seed production.

ACCIDENTAL BENEFIT TO THE FISHERMAN

In durg district,the fisherman's are protected by insurance. In this scheme  4153 fisherman's have been insured . Under this scheme after the death Rs.50000/ compensation allowance is given to the nominee of the family and in case of partial accident Rs. 25000/ is given to the fisherman .

REGD. CO-OPRATIVE SOCIETIES (FISHERMANS)

In durg district there are 132 registered Cooperative societies . Whose membership at present is 4564 members . Among the regd .Cooperative Societies 98 societies has been allotted banks , which contain 4848.088 hac. Water area.

S.G.S.Y. SCHEME

Under this scheme 190 S.G.S.Y.Groups has been formed. SGSY groups allotted 311 tank which contain 595.582 hac.

NEW POND CONSTRUCTION IN PRIVATE SECTOR

Under this scheme 144 new tank has been constructed. Which contain 116.50 hac.waterarea

TANK ALLOTMENT AND AVAILABLE, LOAN / SUBSIDY UNDER THE CENTRAL SPONCERED SCHEME

In villages people are allotted a tank, after which a loan/ subsidy is is made available to the beneficiaries, for fish culture . As per the provisions of the scheme 20% of the loan distributed by the bank is kept for general categories and 25% for the ST./SC beneficiaries.

TRAINING

Traning is also given to the co-operative society members , as well to the fisherman's who is a lease owner. Annually 350 to 400 fisherman's have been trained in durg district.

INTEGRATED FISH FARMING SCHEME

Under this scheme fish-cum-poultry,fish –cum-dairy,fish-cum-duck and fish-cum pigree farming is given impetus. 132 units are being run in the district under this scheme. Loan and subsidy is also made available under the provision of the scheme.
